Fulton Beach Shoreline restoration

 

The happenings at the Navigation District keep getting more interesting.  The middle of July, Navigation District Commissioner Micky Casterline reached out to me through a long-time mutual friend.  He wanted to talk.  The 3 of us met for lunch that Friday.  My wife’s Uncle by marriage and the Casterline family were involved in several seafood related businesses over the years and I came to know Bubba, Frank and Micky after moving to Rockport in 1996.  The Casterline family is a multi-generational name of well-known and respected business people in Aransas County.  If it swims in the bays around us, they have made a business out of it.

 

At that lunch, Micky told me about a meeting he had with one of the owners of Shoreline Protection Services (SPS), Inc. to see a demonstration of a new and innovative product that could take the place of common concrete bulkheads.  One intended location is on Fulton Beach Road located where Cherry Street intersects with Fulton Beach Road.   When he arrived, Commissioner Tommy Moore was already there along with the representative of the company.  Micky said Tommy did all the talking; telling Micky that he was a salesman for SPS and that if he wanted to learn anything about the product, he would get it from Tommy.  Micky attempted to speak with the company representative and ask questions but was continually interrupted by Commissioner Moore.  Frustrated, Micky walked off.

 

The Navigation District awarded a contract to SPS on or about July 20th to place the new type shoreline protection device to 80 feet of Fulton Beach Road along the water front by Yarbaritaville.   Work started the following week.

 

There could not be a clearer case of conflict of interest in Commissioner Moore’s behavior.  And this is not the first instance.  One documented conflict is in the Blog posting of July 26th.  How many Moore are there?  I will keep digging and both will be reported to the Texas Ethics Commission for investigation.

How to Screw Both the Would-be Candidates and the Voting Public

This is the latest post about the Navigation District.  A previous post touched on the District's messing with election dates.  The attachments are the District's response to my Open Records Request, later changed to a Public Information Act request.  Saturday's PILOT carried a letter from Tommy Moore that prompted me to complete this blog.  It is quite long and for that I apologize, but it is very important.  This should make your blood boil.  Also know that I am endorsing Rebecca Johnson as a Write-in Candidate for Tommy Moore's seat.  I pray that after reading this latest narrative that you will consider voting for her also.  This is what I will read to the District tomorrow morning. Third Request for Public Information

  THIRD REQUEST FOR PUBLIC INFORMATION DOCUMENTS   PLEASE READ THROUGH TO THE BOTTOM FOR THIS MORNING’S COMMENTS TO THE NAV DISTRICT I have turned in 2 Public Information Act (PIA) requests to this body seeking the same information and your attorney continues to play word games; the only reasonable explanation of which is because he and this body doesn’t want the truth to get out of what lies with what I am asking.   Twice you have interpreted my request as a meeting of the navigation and canal commission and provided me with a word for word exact same response the second time.   You could interpret it as a meeting of the Joint Chiefs of Staff but that doesn’t make it so.   I was specific with the second request but apparently you desire a different level of specificity.
