Long Nguyen, A reflection on His History and Desires for Aransas County

 

I first met Long Nguyen in 1996 when he laid the foundation for our Rockport home. Long is a quiet man, not too much for talking. He is more about doing. Our job was one of three he was working on at the same time. He has poured every slab foundation that Richard Dias of Dias Construction has required for over 30 years. Long found Rockport in the early 1970’s after his family fled Vietnam. Even as a middle school student, he was always working – working in the fishing and shrimping industry. Those experiences led him to own the Fulton Harbor Bait Stand right on the Fulton Marina. After graduating from Rockport Fulton High School, he began working for his future Father-in-law’s concrete company, Salazar Concrete Works.

 

He is a proud family man. He and his wife Nelda have four adult children and five grandchildren and all still live in Aransas County. They are members and supporters of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. As the head of Salazar Concrete Works, he has never missed a day of work. He told the gathering at South Rockport Neighbors that if he took a sick day, the work would not be done.

 

Long has a passion for Aransas County, but believes it has become much too complex. He believes that a return to simpler times is possible with responsible decision-making. If elected, he will work to revive the maritime industry bringing good paying jobs to the community. He believes what is missing now is cooperation between government entities and will work to restore that. Above all, he will work to maintain and preserve the natural environment that makes Aransas County so wonderful, for generations to come.

The voters should consider the following report card on the District before they cast their votes. How to Screw Both the Would-be Candidates and the Voting Public

This is the latest post about the Navigation District.  A previous post touched on the District's messing with election dates.  The attachments are the District's response to my Open Records Request, later changed to a Public Information Act request.  Saturday's PILOT carried a letter from Tommy Moore that prompted me to complete this blog.  It is quite long and for that I apologize, but it is very important.  This should make your blood boil.  Also know that I am endorsing Rebecca Johnson as a Write-in Candidate for Tommy Moore's seat.  I pray that after reading this latest narrative that you will consider voting for her also.  This is what I will read to the District tomorrow morning. Third Request for Public Information

  THIRD REQUEST FOR PUBLIC INFORMATION DOCUMENTS   PLEASE READ THROUGH TO THE BOTTOM FOR THIS MORNING’S COMMENTS TO THE NAV DISTRICT I have turned in 2 Public Information Act (PIA) requests to this body seeking the same information and your attorney continues to play word games; the only reasonable explanation of which is because he and this body doesn’t want the truth to get out of what lies with what I am asking.   Twice you have interpreted my request as a meeting of the navigation and canal commission and provided me with a word for word exact same response the second time.   You could interpret it as a meeting of the Joint Chiefs of Staff but that doesn’t make it so.   I was specific with the second request but apparently you desire a different level of specificity.
